Styrmand behind the IT-helm during Nordic Ski Championships 2011 in Holmenkollen

The Nordic Ski Championships 2011 in Holmenkollen became a festival and an unparalleled success. Thanks to NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) a massive number of kilometres of permanent and temporary fibre cable streaming video was produced for over 800 million viewers across more than 60 countries. Styrmand AS held leading roles throughout the project, from planning, designing, building through to decommissioning. (31/05/2011)

Throughout the Nordic Ski Championships 2011 in Holmenkollen the viewers were able to partake in the norwegian skiing adventure at it's best. This was a historic event with record-breaking audience numbers and athletes. In addition to this, IP-technology has never been applied to this many areas in similar championships.
 
Styrmand contributed to the expansion and refurbishment of the Holmenkollen national ski arena with managing the IT planning and engineering stage as well the procurement and commissioning stage. In addition to this we held a number of key roles during the installation of servers and other IT infrastructure components. Styrmand held all the key roles during the establishment of the provisional IT solution for the Nordic Ski Championships.
 
Styrmand contributed during the building of the provisional solution with planning, design, build and configuration of all temporary IT infrastructure and also the subsequent decommissioning of this equipment.
 
Styrmand contributed in the Nordic Ski Championships organisation with overall IT manager, IT manager for media, IT manager for the central arena and a technical team handling procurement and installation of PCs, mobile equipment, cloud-based solutions, TETRA-communications, Digital Signage, internet access, fibre for broadcasting networks, and a vast number of monitors. Furthermore, Styrmand co-ordinated and delivered IT-related requests from the Press, TV, events, sports and subcontractors before and during the Ski Championships.
 
The 2011 Nordic Ski Championships has been voted one of the best events from an IT-perspective by Host Broadcast and licensees. And this is with a very low cost for the event-holder!
 
Styrmand has through the assignment for 2011 Nordic Ski Championships once again proven that we can deliver to expectations in very complex and compound IT-projects. We have also been asked to contribute in further events in Holmenkollen, Val di Fiemme and Falund.
